Musk: Tesla Autopilot Has Less Influence Than General AI
Recently, Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, said that although Tesla’s autonomous driving technology has a profound impact on the future, its influence is far less than that of General Artificial Intelligence. His view was clearly expressed in a reply to a Tesla fan tweet. The tweet stated that Tesla’s fully autonomous driving software is the most important software for drivers and passengers in their lifetime. Musk’s response to this stated that its impact is not as significant as artificial intelligence, but it is definitely not small. General artificial intelligence, especially the generative AI represented by the ChatGPT Chatbot of OpenAI, is more and more popular and is expected to realize the same thinking and understanding as human beings. In recent years, more and more companies have invested in research and development in this field. However, Musk remained cautious and even publicly called for a halt to the development of advanced AI.
Recently, he once again warned that this technology may control humans. However, this did not prevent Musk from exploring this technology. According to reports, he has purchased thousands of graphics processing units to drive a generative AI project. On the other hand, Tesla’s autonomous driving technology has raised some doubts. People are increasingly concerned about the safety of Tesla cars. Since 2019, there have been 736 Tesla vehicle crashes involving autonomous driving mode, resulting in a total of 17 deaths. Recently, in Pennsylvania, the United States, another crash occurred on a Tesla that had opened the Autopilot mode, which again raised questions about Tesla Autopilot’s automatic driving. However, Musk did not give up the research and development of automatic driving technology because of this. He also revealed on Twitter that the latest version of Tesla’s full auto drive system is about to be released. The new version is no longer a beta version and will take on a “complete form”.
