Nvidia Received $5 Billion Order from Chinese Technology Giant

According to a report by the Financial Times on Wednesday, Chinese internet giants are vying to acquire Nvidia’s high-performance chips, which are crucial for building generative artificial intelligence systems. It is reported that these orders are worth $5 billion.
The Financial Times quoted two unnamed people closely related to Nvidia as reporting that Baidu, ByteDance, Tencent and Alibaba had ordered $1 billion worth of A800 processors from the American chip manufacturer, which will be delivered this year.
In addition, these companies have purchased $4 billion of NVIDIA graphics processors (GPUs), which will be delivered in 2024.

A spokesperson for NVIDIA declined to elaborate on these orders, but said, “Consumer internet companies and cloud providers invest billions of dollars in data center components every year, typically placing orders several months in advance.”
After the United States demanded that Nvidia stop exporting its two top computing chips for artificial intelligence related work to China, Nvidia can provide China with a “reduced version” of the A800 processor.
Jensen Huang, co-founder and CEO of NVIDIA, stated in June that restricting the export of artificial intelligence chips to China would “permanently deprive the US industry of opportunities”, although the company is not expected to have an immediate substantive impact.
