Viettel Chooses Juniper to Provide High Speed Internet Connection for Vietnam’s Digital Society

Juniper Networks, a leader in the field of security and artificial intelligence driven networks, announced that Vietnam’s largest telecommunications group, Viettel Group, has chosen Juniper’s MX960 universal routing platform for its network updates. These upgrades will help Viettel better expand its consumer mobile and fixed broadband services, especially as the demand for the internet increases, in line with the government’s efforts to drive economic growth through technology.
Vietnam has over 77 million internet users and is the fastest-growing digital economy in Southeast Asia due to its thriving e-commerce sector and increasing adoption of digital services. Viettel was named the most valuable brand in Vietnam and one of the Fortune 500 most valuable brands in 2022, and has developed into a leader in the global telecommunications industry with over 70 million mobile users worldwide. In Vietnam, the telecommunications company recently announced record growth, maintaining its market leader position with a 54% share in the mobile market and a 40% share in the fiber optic internet market.


With Vietnam’s digital transformation plan aimed at strengthening connectivity between its population, Viettel embarked on a journey of transformation to promote the development of Vietnam’s digital society. For over a decade, Viettel has relied on routing and security solutions from Juniper to achieve its core, edge, and metropolitan access networks. By selecting Juniper’s MX960 universal routing platform and MX-SPC3 service card, Viettel further deepened this partnership to enhance its carrier level network address translation (CGNAT) capabilities to meet growing traffic growth and leverage the additional processing capabilities required for seamless network address translation.
In order to effectively meet the growing demand for mobile and broadband services in urban and rural areas, while maximizing the use of public IPv4 addresses, Viettel has chosen to upgrade its CGNAT functionality. Among other key service functions, it allows for seamless coexistence of IPv4 and IPv6 in Viettel’s network. These upgrades enable Viettel to effectively expand its consumer mobile and fixed broadband services, providing its users with an unparalleled experience of a wide range of services including gaming, streaming, and work applications.
