STL Launches Next Generation Lugoff Fiber Optic Cable Factory to Start “Made in America”

Recently, STL (New York Stock Exchange: SLTECH), a leading global optical and digital solutions company, officially announced the launch of its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, The Palmetto Plant, in Lugoff, South Carolina, USA. This facility is named after the state tree of South Carolina and is also designated as STL’s North American headquarters, symbolizing STL’s commitment to the US market.

The strategic investment and expansion efforts in the United States further strengthen STL’s commitment to the “Made in America” vision. In order to meet the market demand for 5G, FTTx, and rural broadband, the palm factory, which covers an area of 168000 square feet, will focus on producing future available optical solutions, including high core fiber optic cables with smaller diameters. Its focus will also extend to groundbreaking designs, particularly high-capacity ribbon optical cables and reinforcement designs for rural deployment. In order to help operators solve the skill shortage problem in the entire industry, the new Lugoff factory also prioritizes optical connectivity products that are easy to deploy, monitor, and maintain. In addition, comprehensive on-site testing in accordance with industry standard GR20 guidelines ensures the high quality and reliability of its products.
STL promises to achieve net zero emissions by 2030. Following in the footsteps of STL’s other global manufacturing factories, Lugoff factory is also committed to achieving zero waste and gradually reducing energy consumption.
The palm factory employs over 150 employees, including skilled manufacturing assistants and experienced industry experts, who lead the company’s North American business.
Paul Atkinson, CEO of STL’s optical network business, is excited about this important milestone. He said, “Our new optical cable factory in Lugoff, South Carolina demonstrates our commitment to the US market and North American customers. This factory reflects our spirit and STL’s larger goal – to change the lives of billions of people by connecting the world. I am pleased to see its impact on rural connectivity and digital landscapes in the United States.”
