China Mobile Collaborates with Huawei to Deploy FTTR-B All-optical E-enterprise Networking on Everest for the First Time

Recently, China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “China Mobile”) and Huawei successfully deployed an all optical e-enterprise network at the tourist base management office and tourist hotels on Mount Everest. This solution is based on Huawei’s FTTR-B all optical small and micro enterprise solution, allowing the ultra gigabit all optical high-quality Wi Fi network to cover the “top of the world” staff and tourists, ensuring their daily communication, corporate office and other needs.

At the management office of the tourist base of Mount Everest at an altitude of 5200 meters, management personnel need to manage the Mount Everest Nature Reserve by checking the ecological environment monitoring equipment on Mount Everest, and promptly send a large number of photos, videos, and summary documents taken during daily on-site inspections to the County Everest Management Bureau. Due to poor network conditions before, there were often issues such as monitoring screen lag, slow video upload, and failed document sending, which affected the implementation of management work. The successful deployment of the all-optical enterprise network has completely changed the history of the region without high-speed networks, achieving full coverage of ultra gigabit all-optical Wi Fi in the tourist base management office and surrounding tourist rest areas.
In addition, tourist hotels located in Everest Town at an altitude of 4200 meters have also deployed this network. Previously, during peak tourist periods, network issues such as internet congestion, lack of internet connectivity in corners, and slow response from the front desk check-in system often occurred, affecting the hotel guests’ check-in experience. After the deployment of the equipment, it can ensure that 300 tourists in the hotel can simultaneously access the internet at high speed, and the efficiency of the hotel’s front desk system is greatly improved.

All optical enterprise networking is a joint venture between China Mobile and Huawei to launch an all optical FTTR enterprise networking product. Based on Huawei’s FTTR-B solution, it provides ultra gigabit all optical networking for small and medium-sized enterprises. Currently, it has been widely used in scenarios such as hotels and shops. Huawei FTTR-B equipment adopts flexible the third mock examination antenna and supports various installation methods such as ceiling mounting and wall hanging to achieve full indoor Wi Fi coverage, so that users can enjoy the best network experience anywhere. The optoelectronic composite cable technology can provide power to equipment while transmitting optical signals, solving the problem of difficult power supply for network equipment. In addition, the accompanying mobile app WeFTTR can provide network topology management, one click network tuning, self-service network configuration, and other functions for IT personnel in management offices and hotels, reducing operation and maintenance costs. China Mobile’s operation and maintenance engineers can also remotely locate network problems through the app to improve operation and maintenance efficiency.
In 2024, China Mobile will also collaborate with Huawei to utilize the Blade OLT built in 2020 to deploy the FTTR-B solution to the higher altitude Everest mountain climbing base, allowing climbers to enjoy gigabit network services at the top of the world. As a leading global ICT infrastructure supplier, Huawei has been deeply cooperating with operators such as China Mobile to continuously assist small and medium-sized enterprises in digital transformation through innovative solutions such as FTTR-B. In the future, Huawei will continue to deepen cooperation with China Mobile, explore optical network technology innovation, and assist in the construction of gigabit optical networks.
