Rome Metro will Achieve 5G Deployment

Telecom Italia (TIM), Iliad, WindTre, and Vodafone have reached an agreement with Roman public transportation operator ATAC to provide 5G for all subway lines in the city, supporting wider digital construction in Europe.
In a brief statement, these companies stated that the agreement will open 5G in the Rome metro infrastructure (including all stations and new subway lines), adding that the agreement will be mediated by the Italian Communications Authority AGCOM.
The operator did not disclose detailed information about the project, but pointed out that the agreement reflects a commitment to support the investment required to achieve the 2030 Digital Agenda goals and aims to improve telecommunications services in the capital, serving tourists and local residents.

TIM and Vodafone Italy also partnered with local tower operator Inwit to open 4G and 5G for the Milan metro system in 2022.
Other European markets have also taken measures to provide 5G in their public transportation systems.
Earlier this month, Vodafone Germany provided a detailed introduction to its cooperation with train operator Deutsche Bahn to achieve 5G coverage on 50% of the country’s railway lines.
At the same time, Orange’s tower business Totem has also won a contract to build indoor 5G infrastructure for the Paris Metro line, a similar project recently won by Nokia. Nokia has promised to provide network equipment to support the city’s subway extension plan.
