Ciena Supports Microscan’s Digital India Program

The network upgrade of Ciena coherent optics will improve data center connectivity for enterprise customers. Microscan is a leading provider of fiber infrastructure and pan Indian national long haul (NLD) services. The company plans to deploy Ciena’s WaveLogic 5 Extreme (WL5e) coherent optical solution.The goal is to enhance the capacity, resilience, flexibility, and operational efficiency of its optical transport network (OTN). With Ciena’s programmable coherent technology and modular OTN switching capabilities in the control plane, Microscan will be able to provide differentiated services with flexible protection and recovery options for its enterprise customers, including data center interconnect (DCI) solutions.

Padmanabhan Iyer, Senior Vice President of Microscan Fiber Networks, stated that “Microscan is renowned for providing reliable network connectivity in Mumbai and other regions. Ciena’s coherent optical solution will enable us to expand our network to meet the evolving digital needs of our customers, while also helping to expand into new business areas and markets. After successful deployment, we will be able to provide N X 100G transparent services and effectively connect our data centers in Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, and Goa”.
Microscan will also utilize Ciena’s Navigator Network Control Suite (Navigator NCS) to automate and simplify the planning, configuration, and assurance operations of the entire network. In addition, Ciena’s 6500 compact 1.2T OTN blade switching solution and WaveLogic 5 Nano (WL5n) 400G coherent pluggable transceiver will provide Microscan with significant space and power efficiency. The Ciena service team will provide network implementation and ongoing maintenance to support Microscan’s high standards in service reliability and performance.
