PacketLight Launches High Port Compact ROADM

PacketLight Networks now offers a reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) that supports 32 Flex Grid ports, enabling providers to build dynamic mesh and ring networks.

PacketLight’s PL-1000GRO ROADM

A key highlight of PacketLight’s PL-1000GRO ROADM platform is its density and ability to support multiple channels and capacities on a single fiber optic cable.

This device adopts the next-generation wavelength selective switch (WSS) technology, with a 1U, low-power external size, supports colorless, non directional, and flexible grids, and integrates optical amplifier and optical channel monitoring (OCM) functions, which can mix and transmit 50/75/100/150GHz signals on the same fiber.

These features enable the network to adapt to future developments, support the transmission of any flexible grid signal bandwidth on the same fiber, and maximize fiber utilization by mixing different capacities from 100G to 800G and emerging 1.6T on the same fiber.

This platform can be used in various application scenarios, including data center interconnection, metropolitan area networks, and flexible grid optical networks.

In addition, PL-1000GRO ROADM can dynamically add or remove selected wavelengths at any network node, achieving seamless control over node capacity. The device will automatically balance and balance the power of added and bypassed wavelengths.

According to user configuration, ROADM’s 32 ports can add and remove colorless wavelengths of different bandwidths. Through PacketLight’s LightWatch Network Management System (NMS) platform, the management process is simplified. The platform provides wavelength A to Z configuration, protection path creation, and recovery protection functions.
