Ericsson Collaborates with 12 Telecom Operators to Establish Aduna, promoting Global Network APIs

Ericsson announced that 12 global communication service providers (CSPs) have completed equity investments in its subsidiary Aduna, officially becoming a 50:50 joint venture.

The purpose of Aduna’s establishment is to integrate and sell aggregated network application programming interfaces (APIs) globally. Since the agreement was signed on September 11, 2024, the company has been operating.

At present, Aduna’s shareholders include: AT&T, Bharti Airtel, Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson KDDI、Orange、Reliance Jio、 Singtel, Telefonica, Telstra, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Vodafone.

In addition to funding and commercial agreements, each shareholder has also brought rich industry support to Aduna, including operator relations, developer community awareness, and professional knowledge of network APIs. Ericsson has also provided Aduna with its global network platform, on which Aduna will build and optimize its own services.

Ericsson holds 50% of the equity in the joint venture, with the remaining 50% jointly held by the aforementioned CSPs.

Aduna CEO Anthony Bartolo said, “The completion of the transaction is another important milestone for Aduna. In just ten months, we have gathered the most influential companies in the telecommunications and ICT industries, building a remarkable ecosystem. This delivery further motivates Aduna to accelerate the adoption of network APIs by developers worldwide, including encouraging more telecom operators to join new companies and continue to drive industry development and developer experience. ”

In addition to founding joint venture partners, the rapidly expanding Aduna ecosystem also encompasses a diverse range of technology and collaboration partners, including other CSPs worldwide, major developer platform companies, global system integration (GSI) companies, communication platform-as-a-service (CPaaS) companies, and independent software vendors (ISVs). Currently joined are e&, Bouygues Telecom, Free, CelcomDigi, SoftBank, NTT DOCOMO, Google Cloud, Vonage, Sinch, Infobip, Enstream, Bridge Alliance, Syniverse, JT Global, Microsoft, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra – all working together to expand the global influence and coverage of network APIs.
