Tech Giants Compete to Build Data Centers, PCB Industry Continues to Thrive
Amazon Web Services (AWS), the cloud computing division of Amazon, plans to invest at least $11 billion in Georgia to expand its infrastructure and support various cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies. Microsoft previously stated that its AI data center expenses for the 2025 fiscal year will be $80 billion. And the trend of high capital expenditure growth for North American cloud vendors in the 2025 fiscal year is confirmed.
PCB is a physical platform. It carries various computing power core components such as AI chips, GPUs, FPGAs, and other supporting electronic components. It provides stable electrical connections and mechanical support for these components. And this ensures the physical structural integrity and stability of AI computing systems. It is the foundation for the normal operation of AI computing hardware. The China Merchants Electronics team pointed out that driven by AI technology and applications, servers will be the fastest-growing application area for PCBs, with an expected CAGR of 11.6% to 14.2 billion US dollars from 2023 to 2028. AI servers, represented by the NVIDIA GB series, have seen a significant increase in demand for high tier, HDI, and high-speed data transmission on a single machine. This has led to a significant upgrade in substrate specifications. The PCB ASP of AI servers has increased several times compared to regular models. And GB200 has been shipped since the end of Q4 and delivered in large quantities next year. The penetration rate of the new universal server platform (supporting PCIe 5.0) is rapidly increasing. And 800G switches will gradually become mainstream in the market next year. Single machine ASP may increase significantly. And it will also drive the demand for corresponding high tier and high-end HDI.
