Coherent Launches 224G Four-channel TIA Link Recovery in Just 50 Nanoseconds
In March 2026, Coherent Corp., a global leader in photonics, announced today the launch of its CHR1074 224Gbps four channel transimpedance amplifier (TIA), designed to support the next generation of 800G and 1.6T optical modules. CHR1074 has been optimized for high-performance artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure, combining ultra fast link recovery with intelligent power management to improve efficiency and reduce latency in increasingly dynamic data center environments.

With the adoption of burst mode traffic and advanced power-saving states in ultra large scale networks, traditional TIA may introduce delays when the link transitions from idle state to active state. CHR1074 solves this challenge by adopting a fast build architecture that can restore full performance in 50 nanoseconds – significantly improving response speed compared to traditional solutions. This device achieves high signal integrity, low noise, and optimized power consumption within a compact external size, allowing system designers to expand bandwidth while maintaining energy efficiency.
Beck Mason, Executive Vice President and Head of Semiconductor Devices Business at Coherent, stated that “AI driven infrastructure is redefining the performance and power requirements of the entire optical interconnect ecosystem. With CHR1074, Coherent consolidates its leadership position in the field of high-speed optical application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) by providing breakthrough performance and system level efficiency. Combined with our portfolio of silicon photonics drivers, this solution makes Coherent a strategic partner for customers building the next generation of 224Gbps optical modules.”
