Depa and Ericsson Collaborate to Develop Thailand’s Digital Valley

The Thailand Digital Economy Promotion Agency (Depa) and Ericsson have officially launched their collaboration in the Depa Thailand Digital Valley, an ambitious project aimed at developing Thailand’s own Silicon Valley in the United States.
The launch event includes meetings with key stakeholders such as the Thai Industrial Federation, global technology solution providers, and startups.
The Thailand Digital Valley, located 50 miles east of Bangkok, is expected to become a new digital center in Southeast Asia, supporting Digital transformation in Thailand and the region. The project is expected to create approximately 20000 new jobs and attract foreign direct investment worth over 5 billion baht annually.

Ericsson and depa recently signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly promote Thailand’s 5G based Digital transformation. This collaboration requires sharing best practices, advanced understanding, and Ericsson’s state-of-the-art technology to accelerate Thailand’s transformation into a digital economy.
As part of the memorandum of understanding, Ericsson and Depa will establish an Innovation Laboratory (Innolab) in Depa’s Thailand Digital Valley located in Chunburi Province. The laboratory will serve as a 5G testing platform and service center to test new wireless and network technologies, spectrum sharing, and new applications and services in Thailand.

Dr. Nuttapon Nimmanphatcharin, president and CEO of depa, said: “Thailand’s digital valley will play an important role in improving Thailand’s Digital ecosystem and make the country a digital center in Southeast Asia. It will become a key driver of digital industry, investment environment and global trade and cooperation.”
Depa said that Thailand’s Digital Valley will become a key Digital ecosystem, laying the foundation for Thailand to become a new research and development center. It will support the joint creation of new hardware and intelligent devices and related technologies, such as Big data, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, software integration, cloud innovation and other digital content and services, including animation, games and e-sports.
