Adtran and Satelles Cooperates to Enhance Network Reliability and Security
Adtran is a leading provider of next-generation open and decomposed network solutions, and Satelles is a leading provider of safe time and location technology using low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites. They announced the establishment of a strategic partnership. This cooperation will enable key infrastructure operators to use satellite time and location (STL) technology to protect their timing networks. Adtran integrates STL into Oscilloquartz network synchronization products, which will provide an alternative solution for GNSS system or a method to enhance reliability and security. STL can provide high-precision PNT services. Even in applications rejected by GNSS, STL also provides important resources for mobile operators, power companies, governments, scientific research, etc.
Christina Riley, Vice President and General Manager of Satelle Enterprise Solutions, said: “We are very happy to cooperate with Oscilloquertz department of Adtran to integrate STL into its PTP network timing equipment portfolio. Through cooperation, we enable more customers to benefit from their aPNT+technology. With the LEO signal 1000 times stronger than GNSS, our STL solution is changing the PNT industry. It is very suitable for providing accurate and reliable timing in places where GNSS cannot reach, such as indoor location. It may receive GNSS signals STL also provides additional PNT services to improve flexibility. STL is easy to install and affordable, and also provides a new level of security for synchronous network infrastructure.”
STL provides enhanced and secure backup for GPS or other GNSS by using encrypted signals transmitted through LEO satellites. It ensures that time and location information is highly accurate, has strong security, and can be accessed globally. STL is effectively not affected by network attacks and is not vulnerable to GNSS vulnerabilities, such as signal interruption and manipulation. Because STL signals are 1000 times stronger than GNSS, they can easily reach buildings and other difficult locations. Through cooperation with Satelles, Adtran’s Oscilloquertz department will incorporate these advantages into the end-to-end timing toolkit. In addition, in addition to integrating STL into its grandmaster clock, it will also develop a miniature M.2-shaped STL receiver module for third-party product integration.
Gil Biran, general manager of Adtran, said: “We are pleased to be able to provide Satelle’s innovative STL technology as a perfect complement to our product portfolio. Reliable, accurate and safe, STL is the source of alternative PNT services, which is very suitable for use when distributed PTP is not available. It also creates new market opportunities for indoor 5G and data center applications. By integrating it into our solutions, we will enable operators of mission-critical networks to meet the most challenges It can provide reliable timing and reduce the cost of installing outdoor antenna. This cooperation strengthens our commitment to provide the most advanced and reliable network timing solutions. We look forward to bringing the advantages of STL to customers around the world.”
