Adtran Supports Silo Communications in Expanding Rural Fiber-optic Broadband

Adtran announced that Silo Communications, a rural broadband service provider based in northern Illinois, is adopting its fiber access product portfolio and software applications to extend high-speed connectivity to underserved households and businesses. As demand for reliable broadband continues to grow across communities, Silo Communications has built an scalable fiber network on the foundation of its wireless operations, designed to support higher speeds, stronger service reliability, and future expansion. This deployment aligns with broader efforts by state and federal governments to extend high-speed connectivity to underserved rural areas, enhancing Silo Communications’ ability to connect residents, local businesses, and agricultural operators—groups that have long had limited access to high-performance broadband.

Luke Grocholl, founder and president of Silo Communications, stated: “The establishment of Silo Communications stems from the practical needs we observe daily in our rural community. Farms, families, and businesses all require better internet access, and we firmly believe there must be a viable way to achieve it. Initially, this was merely a local effort to provide connectivity to nearby customers, which has now evolved into a broader network spanning northern Illinois. Throughout this growth journey, Adtran has remained a close and responsive partner, offering us technology, guidance, and flexibility to expand our services with confidence. Together, we are building a stronger network focused on reliable connectivity, long-term value, and the practical needs of the people and communities we serve.”

Silo Communications is deploying Adtran’s SDX Fiber Access Platform to support high-performance connectivity from access infrastructure to homes and businesses. The network is managed via Adtran’s Mosaic software suite, with its automation capabilities helping streamline operations as fiber coverage continues to expand. Silo Communications has also adopted the Adtran Service Delivery Gateway, supported by Intellifi®, to create a more consistent and reliable home network experience. This supports multi-gigabit Wi-Fi transmission and remote visibility, enhancing customer support. Together, these technologies form a scalable foundation that improves user experience while enabling more flexible and agile network expansion in rural areas.

Adtran’s North America Vice President of Sales, Jeremy Harris, commented: “Silo Communications stands out as a leading example of the new generation of locally-rooted service providers transforming broadband access in rural America. Their team embodies entrepreneurial spirit, grand vision, and a deep connection with the communities they serve, always focused on solving real connectivity challenges. By combining scalable fiber-optic access technology with intelligent software, we are enabling Silo Communications to expand networks efficiently, enhance operational insights, and deliver reliable broadband services where they are most needed. This project reflects the vibrant momentum we see in the rural market—dynamic providers building networks that support digital inclusion, economic opportunities, and long-term community resilience.”
