Anhui Unicom Joins Hands with Huawei to Complete the First 900M 2T Dual Splice Deployment in China

In order to implement the construction principle of “adhering to low-cost network construction and reducing network TCO” of the group company, Anhui Unicom actively carries out technical practice and explores various low-cost network construction methods.
How to maximize the efficiency of old 900M 2T equipment, increase the utilization of old equipment, and reduce the purchase of new equipment is an important research topic of Anhui Unicom. Recently, Anhui Unicom teamed up with Huawei to complete the country’s first 900M 2T dual splicing deployment in Hefei. The post deployment test results show that compared to 2T devices, the 2T dual integration has a significant improvement in network coverage and perception rate: the average reception level has increased by 3dB; The average download speed reached 48.8Mbps, an increase of 15%; The proportion of downstream experience speeds greater than 12Mbps has increased to 91%, an increase of 4pct; The uplink and downlink throughput has been increased to 4.6GB, an increase of 12%. In summary, this pilot test verifies that 2T dual splicing can achieve the same network capacity as 4T new devices, significantly improving network coverage and perception rate, providing new ideas for optimal TCO operation of network construction.

The 900M 2T device is deployed based on 4G business requirements, and 4T devices can obtain array, power, and diversity gain compared to 2T devices. Beamforming technology started at 4T and is one of the core technologies of 5G, which can greatly improve the capacity of 5G systems. Therefore, considering the subsequent 5G evolution of the low-frequency network, starting with 4T deployment, the low-frequency network equipment capacity can be supplemented through 2T dual splicing.
The success of the 900M old 2T equipment dual integration innovation pilot has laid a technical foundation for the revitalization of the entire network’s old 2T equipment dual integration 4T, extended the service life of old equipment, reduced new equipment procurement, and provided new ideas for low-cost network construction.
