AOI Showcases Industry-Leading 1.6T OSFP DR8 LPO Technology
Applied Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. a leading provider of optical access network products in the Internet data center, cable broadband, telecommunications and fiber to the home (FTTH) markets, demonstrated its latest linear technology -1.6T OSFP DR8 LPO module at the 2024 European Optical Communication Conference, setting a new standard for high-speed networks by doubling the data rate of the current interface.
The 1.6T OSFP DR8 LPO module can integrate with the CEI-224G linear standard of the Optical Interconnection Forum (“OIF”), supporting the data transfer rates required for data intensive applications, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, and advanced data center operations. These integrated features address the current needs of today’s network infrastructure and enable enterprises to scale and integrate future advancements for reliable performance.
“We are glad to contribute to OIF’s display of the CEI-224G linear standard,” said Fred Chang, Senior Vice President and North American General Manager of Applied Optoelectronics. “Our 1.6T OSFP DR8 LPO module demonstrates AOI’s commitment to driving innovation in the optical communication industry, achieving faster and more efficient data transmission rates to meet the growing demand for global network infrastructure.”
As part of its collaboration with OIF, Applied Optoelectronics also showcased other solutions that support next-generation data centers and emerging technologies. This includes:
800G OSFP DR8 LPO module integrated into 800G switch (CEI-112G linear demonstration), ELSFP 1311nm non cooled module on-site demonstration (exhibition showcasing high data rate connectivity with minimal cooling requirements, suitable for data centers), as well as EEI and co encapsulation architecture static concept demonstration.
