Coherent Expands Strategic Partnership with Apple
Last week, Coherent announced that it has signed a new multi-year strategic supply agreement with Apple to further expand their long-term partnership. According to the agreement, Coherent will continue to produce vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSEL) to support key features such as Face ID in iPhone and iPad devices shipped worldwide. This critical task is in action at Coherent’s advanced manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas, USA.
Coherent CEO Jim Anderson said, “This agreement demonstrates the strong partnership we have with Apple and our commitment to driving the industry’s technology roadmap through leading scale, extensive capabilities, and deep innovative solutions. We are proud that the Sherman plant plays such an important role in producing laser components that empower some of Apple’s most iconic innovative technologies.”

Coherent’s campus in Sherman, Texas has an advanced 6-inch wafer based compound semiconductor epitaxial, manufacturing, and device production platform, serving next-generation optoelectronic applications.
