CoreWeave Chooses Nokia to Provide Network for Ultra Large Scale AI Cloud
Nokia announces that AI Hyperscale ™ CoreWeave has selected it to deploy its IP routing and optical transmission product portfolio globally as part of its large-scale backbone network construction. And it will immediately launch it in its data centers in the United States and Europe. To our surprise, Nokia solutions provide ultra fast and reliable large-scale performance while driving over 30% of traffic within the same energy range. More importantly, it’s the foundation for the strict and rapidly growing data demands of AI and machine learning (ML) workloads.
Why does CoreWeave need a cooperation
CoreWeave supports the most complex computationally intensive workloads and AI centric applications. So, it requires a network backbone to provide customers with ultra fast and reliable access to CoreWeave services, as well as critical network connectivity to support CoreWeave’s artificial intelligence cloud infrastructure. As the demand for generative artificial intelligence, machine learning, graphics, and rendering (VFX) continues to grow, Nokia’s IP and optical product portfolio, as well as high-performance FP5 IP routing chips, will provide high programmability and customization, enabling ultra large scale devices to evolve with changes in traffic behavior and growth.
Why to cooperate with each other
CoreWeave has chosen Nokia hardware to support its backbone and edge platforms to meet the performance, stability, and scalability needs of today’s and future AI and machine learning hyper scale clouds. The explosive growth of demand centered around the infrastructure are needed to meet these needs. Nokia has proven to be an important partner. Also, we have no doubt that as CoreWeave continues to expand, Nokia will help us provide world-class cloud experiences for all customers.”
Vach Kompella, Senior Vice President and General Manager of IP Networks at Nokia, said, “As a mega operator behind some of the world’s largest artificial intelligence enterprises and laboratories, CoreWeave is at the forefront of innovation in untapped fields. As we all know, this requires verified reliability, uncompromising large-scale performance, and higher efficiency brought by Nokia’s automation solutions. This method ensures lossless and ultra-low latency delivery every time – regardless of traffic peaks or unexpected events. We look forward to deploying Nokia’s IP and optical platforms in CoreWeave’s backbone network as it expands its global data center network.”
CoreWeave’s IP backbone network is built on the Nokia 7750 Service Router (SR) based on FP5. It provides large-scale routing scale, 800Gb/s speed, powerful Ethernet VPN (EVPN) support, and Nokia’s ultra reliable, secure, and high-performance Service Router Operating System (SROS). What’s more, the optical transmission and data center interconnection across wide area networks will utilize the Nokia 1830 Photon Services Interconnection (PSI) solution. So, the Nokia Network Services Platform (NSP) will automate network functions and optimize resource allocation.
