ECOC2023: Device Manufacturers and Service Providers Enhance Interoperability
Interoperability is a key theme of the ECOC autumn exhibition 2023. During the Optical Interconnection Forum (OIF), the Ethernet Forum and Open XR Forum held multi vendor interoperability demonstrations.
The OIF interoperability demonstration included 39 companies demonstrating interoperability work in four areas -400ZR+, co packaged solutions, CEI-112G and CEI-224G, and CMIS implementation. During the ECOC period, OIF also commemorated the meaningful progress made in promoting the industry over the past 25 years.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the birth of Ethernet, the Ethernet Alliance conducted a multi vendor interoperability demonstration. The Ethernet Alliance’s experiential exhibition at the ECOC booth covers a wide range of Ethernet products and solutions. The demonstration ranges in speed from 10GbE to 800GbE, showcasing fiber optic cables and interconnections, switches, routers, transceivers, testing and measurement equipment, as well as pluggable shapes such as OSFP, QSFP-DD, QSFP, and SFP.
Finally, the Open XR Forum hosted a seminar. The Open XR Forum is the Multi Source Protocol working group of XR Optics, which is developing emerging point-to-point coherent pluggable transceiver technology. The seminar focused on introducing the latest transceiver specifications, including thermal, mechanical packaging, and electro-optical characteristics.
As device manufacturers and service provider customers expand their products and networks, these interoperability efforts highlight different elements of the optical ecosystem and will be of great significance.
