Ericsson Announces Enterprise-Driven 5G Network Strategy

Ericsson has announced its enterprise 5G strategy, which includes private 5G and neutral host 5G solutions aimed at providing critical business connectivity in operational and public facing enterprise environments. These innovative solutions enable carpeted and industrial enterprises to advance innovation, safety, and operational efficiency.

Manish Tiwari, Head of Dedicated Cellular Networks for Enterprise Wireless Solutions at Ericsson, said: “As businesses continue to increase automation, enhance security, and invest in seamless connectivity to meet end users’ expectations, existing technologies such as Wi Fi and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) often cannot be implemented due to technical limitations, cost, and complexity. Our enterprise 5G product portfolio meets these needs by leveraging Ericsson’s top-notch radio, software, and management operations capabilities to achieve flexible enterprise solutions.”

Solutions

Ericsson’s enterprise 5G product portfolio includes three solutions:

Dedicated 5G: a fusion of 4G/5G dedicated cellular solutions with industry and licensed spectrum support, providing flexible deployment models and top-notch coverage, mobility, security, and latency.

Private 5G Contract: A product based on CBRS in the United States, designed specifically for enterprises that require strong connectivity in Wi Fi deficient environments, utilizing a simplified radio architecture (formerly known as Cradlepoint NetCloud Private Network).

Enterprise 5G Coverage: A first-class neutral host solution that has been certified by all major operators in the United States. Compared to traditional DAS, it provides a simplified and scalable architecture, bringing attractive total cost of ownership to enterprises.

The enterprise 5G product portfolio utilizes a wider range of Ericsson’s Radio Access Network (RAN) product portfolio, including wireless point systems for indoor deployment and small cellular radios for outdoor use. Simplifying subscription based packaging by using optional services and feature add ons can reduce acquisition costs. In addition, Ericsson will focus its resources on pre-sales and after-sales support, including providing vertical expertise and training to channel partners, enabling enterprise customers to focus on their business results and innovation.

Complexity

Customers can expect to deploy and manage any solution in Ericsson’s enterprise wireless product portfolio (enterprise 5G, wireless WAN, and SASE) under NetCloud Manager, a comprehensive cloud management and orchestration platform. Ericsson’s innovation eliminates the complexity that enterprise customers face when wanting to leverage 5G capabilities:

Simplified deployment through seamless provisioning and configuration capabilities, unified policy management, and single pane visibility across networks.

Easy enterprise 5G network operation, utilizing AIOps to transform visibility into actionable insights to improve performance.
Simplified lifecycle management makes it easy to update, upgrade, and expand.

Innovative features that drive business outcomes, such as indoor 5G positioning, to accurately locate assets.

Pablo Tomasi, Chief Analyst for Omdia’s dedicated networks and enterprise 5G, said, “Ericsson’s strategy and comprehensive approach to developing its dedicated network product portfolio is meeting the growing demand for secure, high-performance connectivity from businesses. Ericsson’s ability to meet customers’ needs in the 5G journey with a unified experience is crucial for helping the market scale up and enabling enterprises utilizing 5G to transform in a meaningful way.”

In another statement, Ericsson also announced new network equipment that complements private LTE, 5G, and coverage extension solutions, providing reliable connectivity in situations where wired networks are unavailable or ineffective.
