Google Allocated 13 Billion Euros for Data Center Project in Finland

Google plans to invest 13 billion euros (approximately 15 billion US dollars) in Finland over the next two years for AI-related digital infrastructure, including the construction of data centers and related supporting investments in Hamina, Kajaani, Muhos, and Vaala.

According to the search giant, this will be Google’s largest single investment in Europe to date. These planned facilities will be added to Google’s existing Hamina data center, which was repurposed from a paper mill acquired by Google in 2009. Google stated that once operational, the new facilities will support 7,000 jobs annually, including both positions directly related to the data center and employment opportunities in local shops, restaurants, and other establishments.

Elisa, the Finnish operator providing network connectivity for the existing Hamina data center, has signed a contract to continue offering the same connectivity services for the new facility.
