Keysight Launches 2 GHz Real-time Spectrum Analysis Solution for Satellite Communication Operators

Keysight has launched a real-time spectrum analysis (RTSA) solution which supports RTSA bandwidth up to 2 GHz and can be used in conjunction with the Keysight N9042B UXA signal analyzer. This software based RTSA solution can monitor satellite signals and interference, helping satellite network operators provide high-quality services to users.

With the gradual popularization of high-throughput satellites in the satellite communication industry, satellite network operators have to handle more and more satellite signals and interference. In addition, traditional satellite communication frequency bands have been auctioned off to terrestrial wireless operators, making the signal interference situation faced by satellite operators more complex. In order to ensure quality of service (QoS), satellite operators need to perform strict and accurate signal interference monitoring in real-time to detect anomalies and mitigate service degradation.
The Keysight RTSA solution solves this challenge by enabling the N9042B UXA signal analyzer to utilize advanced optical fiber data interface (ODI) streaming disks up to 2 GHz to continuously capture and analyze elusive transient signals without gaps.
RTSA application software has the following advantages:
Shorten analysis time: Keysight’s advanced field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology enables multithreaded parallel RTSA measurements with a bandwidth of up to 2 GHz, thereby minimizing the time interval between processing/depicting signals and recapturing them. This can shorten the analysis time and improve the interception probability.
Support broadband analysis: The Keysight RTSA test solution supports transmission to RAID storage through ODI streaming disks at a rate of up to 2 GHz, enabling fast broadband streaming transmission, and collecting several hours of signal records for analysis.
Digital Twin Innovation: Based on the design and simulation expertise of Keysight, RTSA solutions can use digital twin technology to accelerate the design and testing of satellite payloads, reduce prototyping costs, accelerate product launch and innovation.
Use with mature Keysight products: RTSA solutions can be run on the N9042B UXA signal analyzer. This advanced signal analyzer/spectrum analyzer can test the millimeter wave performance of 5G, satellite, and radar. Combining the V3050A frequency expander (extending the non banded frequency coverage to 110 GHz), the U9361 RCal receiver calibrator, the M9484B VXG signal generator, and the powerful PathWave X series and PathWave vector signal analysis and measurement application software, the N9042B UXA analyzer can provide 2 GHz real-time spectrum analysis bandwidth and 2 GHz streaming disk bandwidth for satellite communication systems.
Greg Patschke, General Manager of the Aerospace and Defense and Government Solutions Division of Keysight, said: “Keysight’s 2 GHz real-time spectrum analysis solution enables innovators to successfully break through the system performance limitations of the satellite communication industry. Keysight provides system level modeling software and RF link simulation. By working with partners like us, satellite network operators can utilize digital twin technology to reduce risk and cost while accelerating system development.”
