Ningxia Computing Power Optical Network: Building a New Engine for Digital Silk Road

On November 25th, in the 2023 National First “Huacai Cup” Computing Power Application Innovation Competition held in Yinchuan, Ningxia Mobile, together with FiberHome Communications, jointly created the Ningxia Computing Power Optical Network, which aims to create an “Optoelectronic Collaborative Wide Intelligent Connection” for the East, West, and West computing, winning the second prize in the national finals. This award signifies that the computing power optical network, as the core of new information infrastructure, has extremely high scale promotion value in data center interconnection application scenarios.
The Huacai Cup Computing Power Application Innovation Competition is a national competition organized and hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. This is the first edition of the competition, with the aim of promoting innovative development of computing power applications, accelerating business model innovation, driving deep integration of China’s computing power infrastructure with various industries, and supporting high-quality development of China’s digital economy. The theme of this competition is “Building a New Type of Computing Power, Empowering the Digital Future”, with three innovative application tracks of computing power, transportation power, and storage power, as well as a green and low-carbon track. The competition started in March 2023, with a total of about 5000 project registrations. After going through preliminary rounds, semi-finals, and national finals, 14 first prizes, 28 second prizes, and 36 third prizes were ultimately selected.
The characteristic of computing power optical network is to use data centers as anchor points, based on OXC optical transmission technology, through flat and MESH design, to construct a three-dimensional structure, greatly reducing latency, forming a “12580” latency circle, providing strong support for business operations.

This time, Ningxia Mobile teamed up with FiberHome Communications to fully utilize Ningxia Zhongwei’s position as a hub node in the East Digital West Computing strategy, and built a forward-looking new type of computing power optical network in a very short time. The aim is to meet core requirements such as high bandwidth, low latency, high reliability, and high security, and provide excellent connection experience for various businesses.
At present, significant achievements have been made in the application of Ningxia computing power optical network. China Building Materials Data Center, Meituan, and other well-known enterprise data centers have all adopted this network, covering various application modes such as computing, training, storage, and shading.
The construction and development of Ningxia Mobile’s computing power optical network is a solid step taken by Ningxia in the new digital era. It meets the core demands of high reliability, high security, low latency and other network connections, and helps with rapid digital transformation and economic growth. In the future, Ningxia Mobile, together with FiberHome Communications, will continue to build a more advanced and intelligent computing power optical network based on its hub position in the East and West, leading a new chapter in the digital Silk Road.
