Nokia and Ooredoo Oman Collaborate on Advanced Networking
Nokia announced a partnership with Ooredoo Oman to deploy the most advanced Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) wholesale network. This project will meet the evolving needs of data centers, AI driven applications, and cloud based platforms for large-scale enterprises, while building Oman into a key connectivity hub between the Indian Ocean, Gulf, and Europe.
This new national network is supported by Nokia’s flagship 1830 Photon Service Switch (PSS). And it will provide reliable performance through WDM transmission in the C+L band. Also it can simplify network operations and accelerate service delivery using WaveSuite optical automation software. The new network will ensure low latency connections for large-scale enterprises and wholesale customers. Also, it achieves seamless traffic to global destinations. The commercial release of online services is scheduled for March 2025.
Deploying this extensive high-capacity network through the strategic partnership between Nokia and Ooredoo aligns with Oman’s Vision 2040. The plan aims to enhance global competitiveness, strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure. More importantly, it makes Ooredoo Oman a key participant in the global data traffic ecosystem, and provides world-class connectivity for businesses and communities in the region.
