Nokia Selected by Claro Argentina for 5G Network Deployment
Why is Nokia selected?
Nokia announced that it has signed a comprehensive 5G agreement with Claro Argentina to deploy 5G infrastructure throughout the country. The agreement will cover the first phase of 5G implementation in the country, covering the largest city in Argentina. This agreement supports Claro’s Argentine digital strategy of providing reliable, low latency, and ultra fast connectivity for consumers and businesses. As a result, Nokia is the only supplier, and its market share will increase in the transaction.
Nokia will deploy devices from its industry-leading 5G AirScale product portfolio and adopt its energy-efficient ReefShark system on chip technology. This includes base stations, baseband units, and their latest generation of massive MIMO radios. Also, it provides extensive and superior 5G capacity and coverage, and enabling easy deployment. 5G technology will change many vertical industries in Argentina, including manufacturing, oil and gas, and more. In one word, Nokia will also provide planning, deployment, integration, and network optimization services.
Claro will become the first customer in Latin America to deploy Nokia interleaved passive antennas (IPAA+) throughout its entire coverage area. Service providers typically face the challenge of finding extra space on towers and rooftops to add 5G antennas. Nokia’s IPAA+solves this practical problem and accelerates the deployment of 5G. Its modular design supports a wide frequency range from 700 MHz to 2.6 GHz, as well as the 5G frequency band of 3.5 GHz, using a compact antenna solution.
So we can say that Nokia is a long-term partner of Claro Argentina and supports the operator in deploying its 2G, 3G, 4G, and now 5G networks.
Claro Argentina CEO Julio Carlos Porras said, “Investing in 5G networks with our partner Nokia confirms our technological leadership and commitment to innovation. Certainly it will continue to support citizens and businesses by providing high-speed connectivity, increased capacity, and seamless connectivity to densely populated areas, thereby achieving social digitization. This will bring unprecedented levels of innovation and efficiency across all departments, enabling organizations to thrive in today’s fast-paced digital environment.”
Nokia Mobile Networks President Tommi Uitto said, “Claro Argentina has a grand plan to change Argentine society by deploying 5G networks. And of course, we are proud to support it as its strategic partner. Our industry-leading 5G product portfolio will lay the foundation for digital transformation. It also provides exciting new opportunities for people and businesses to experience enhanced mobile connectivity.”
