Onsemi Launches Industry-leading Analog and Mixed Signal Platform
Recently, onsemi announced the launch of the Treo platform, which is an analog and mixed signal platform built using advanced 65nm node BCD (Bipolar CMOS-DMOS) process technology. This platform has laid a strong foundation for onsemi’s extensive power and sensing solutions, including high-performance and low-power sensing, efficient power management, and dedicated communication devices. By utilizing this scalable single solution, customers can simplify and accelerate product development for existing applications, and quickly seize emerging market opportunities.
The increasing demand for electricity in today’s automotive, industrial, and AI data center markets, coupled with stricter environmental regulations, has prompted these industries to improve energy efficiency and demand higher performance and functionality in terminal applications. In addition, low-power devices such as medical wearable devices are becoming increasingly complex, requiring greater intelligence and energy efficiency to improve personal care and reduce device costs. This requires highly integrated and advanced power and sensing solutions that can provide stronger intelligence while achieving higher energy efficiency across the entire power range.
The Treo platform has a unique advantage in meeting these growing demands. It not only has excellent performance and functionality, but also supports industry-leading wide voltage ranges on leading nodes. Products manufactured on the Treo platform can achieve significant improvements in accuracy, performance, and energy efficiency, thereby improving functionality, safety, and overall quality throughout the lifecycle.
In the field of automobiles
High performance ultrasonic sensors can double the accuracy, which means they can detect objects closer to the vehicle in parking assistance applications. Due to its ability to detect objects at closer distances, parking assistance systems can help drivers avoid obstacles more effectively while parking, providing better collision avoidance capabilities and improving overall safety.
In the field of healthcare
The ultra-low power analog front-end (AFE) used for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can more accurately measure currents as small as nanoamperes (nA). This precision is crucial for detecting small signals generated by blood glucose sensors and ensuring accurate blood glucose readings. By integrating multiple functions into a single compact chip, the platform is able to reduce the required space by half and extend battery life to several weeks. This means that the entire CGM device is smaller in size, more comfortable to wear, and reduces the number of replacements to save medical costs.
In data center applications
The Treo platform will make onsemi’s intelligent power levels more compact, helping to improve energy efficiency in powering GPUs and CPUs. This can reduce cooling requirements and significantly save energy, thereby lowering operating costs, minimizing environmental impact, and achieving sustainable development.
The Treo platform adopts a modular architecture similar to a System on Chip (SoC), with a continuously evolving and robust IP building module used to construct computing, power management, sensing, and communication subsystems. The Treo platform adopts 65 nanometer process nodes, which have advanced digital processing capabilities and better analog IP performance. With these capabilities, the platform can provide local intelligence and computing capabilities, achieve flexible configuration, and significantly improve the performance and accuracy of terminal applications. In addition, the platform supports an industry-leading 1-90V wide voltage range and a working temperature of up to 175℃, enabling customers to integrate a range of functions from low to high power consumption. These features enhance Ansenmei’s ability to deliver optimized solutions and customized product portfolios, enabling customers to bring products to market at an unprecedented speed.
onsemi can now provide initial product line samples based on the Treo platform, including voltage converters, ultra-low power AFEs, LDOs, ultrasonic sensors, multiphase controllers, and single pair Ethernet controllers. By 2025, ON Semiconductor will offer a wider range of product lines, adding more system level value, including high-performance sensors, DC-DC converters, automotive LED drivers, electrical safety ICs, connectivity products, and more.
