Russia Plans to Produce 1000 Domestically Produced 5G Base Stations by 2025
According to reports from Russia’s news agency and Russian satellite news agency on February 5th, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Chernethenko stated on February 5th that Russia plans to produce 1000 domestically produced 5G base stations by 2025, thereby accelerating the deployment process of 5G networks in cities with a population of one million.
According to its introduction, the deployment of 5G networks in local big cities using domestically produced Russian base stations is expected to begin in 2026. This development work is carried out within the roadmap framework of “modern and future mobile communication networks”, which proposes a series of goals to be achieved before 2030.
Last August, Russia released a draft communication development strategy. The draft states that by 2035, all cities with a population of over 100000 will use domestically produced devices to deploy 5G networks.
According to previous media reports, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communication and Mass Media of Russia, Changsha Dayev, introduced domestically produced 5G base stations at an exhibition and forum in Russia at the end of last year, stating that Russia is preparing to start network service preparations in 2025 and plans to connect Russian base stations to friendly countries. For the 6G network, Shadaev stated that the issue is currently being studied and research and development work will begin in 2024.
