Taiwan, China Technology Manufacturers’ Sales Increased 19% in April

Data shows that, driven by the strong demand for AI related servers and semiconductors, the combined sales of top manufacturers in Taiwan, China’s technology industry increased 19.4% year-on-year in April.
The combined sales of 19 companies increased for the second consecutive month, reaching NT $1.27 trillion (US $39.5 billion). Last year, due to a decline in global computer and smartphone sales, this number declined, but due to demand related to artificial intelligence, it has now regained its growth momentum.
Hon Hai Precision Industries, an assembler of various products, including Apple’s iPhone, achieved an annual revenue growth of 19%. Hon Hai stated in May this year that it benefited from the market’s demand for cloud related products.
AI server manufacturer Guangda Computer achieved a 25% growth.

Meanwhile, iPhone assembler Asus suffered a 16.5% decline in revenue. Renbao Electronics, which mainly produces computers, experienced a 2.2% decline.
In the chip field, due to strong demand for cutting-edge AI chips, TSMC’s revenue surged by 59.6% in April, reaching a historic high. Mainly focusing on traditional semiconductors, Liandian achieved a growth of 6.9%.
SunMoon Holdings, which provides semiconductor packaging and testing services, achieved a growth of 5.8%. Chip designer MediaTek and DRAM manufacturer South Asia Technology achieved growth of 48.2% and 41.9% respectively.
Excluding TSMC, the sales of the four chip manufacturers on the list have not yet recovered to the level of 2022, when overall chip demand was booming. These companies will focus on the extent of demand recovery in the second half of this year.
Asus Computer achieved a 33% revenue growth within a year, partly due to a rebound from the downturn in April 2023. Display manufacturer Uda Optoelectronics achieved a 28% growth after completing its acquisition of German automotive parts manufacturer BHTC.
