Three Asian Games Villages Achieved Full Coverage of Telecommunications 5G Networks

At present, the preparation work for the Hangzhou Asian Games has entered a comprehensive sprint stage, and the network communication guarantee of the Asian Games Village has become one of the most important tasks at this stage. The Hangzhou Asian Games involve 56 competition venues and 5 Asian Games villages (including 4 Asian Games sub villages), among which China Telecom has undertaken the communication construction and guarantee work for Hangzhou Asian Games Village, Chun’an Asian Games sub village, and Jinhua Asian Games sub village. All three Asian Games villages have achieved full coverage of 5G networks.

Hangzhou Asian Games Village is located in Qianjiang Century City, mainly including buildings such as Athletes Village, Technical Officials Village, Media Village, International and Public Areas. Shen Wenqiang, General Manager of China Telecom Hangzhou Branch, stated that the telecommunications team has closely collaborated with the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee and the Asian Games Village Operation Team to carefully build five Asian Games special networks, including AGIS private network and Internet (WiFi), with deep coverage of gigabit optical network and 5G wireless network, to help create the “Smart Asian Games Village”. To provide a smooth and stable network experience for the guests of the Asian Games Village, all wired networks adopt the “dual routing optical cable” access method, greatly improving the reliability of network operation. At the same time, nearly a hundred wireless base stations have been built in the Asian Games Village, achieving continuous coverage of 5G signals throughout the entire Asian Games Village, ensuring that tens of thousands of people use the 5G network to receive and receive videos, pictures, and video calls during the event.
Based on the “one cloud and six networks” infrastructure, China Telecom not only provides event specific network services for the Asian Games, but also provides multiple emergency communication “black technologies” to continuously meet user viewing needs, improve user viewing experience, and empower the sports industry with technology. China Telecom simultaneously undertakes the communication support tasks for the Chun’an Asian Games Village, Chun’an Jieshou Sports Center Small Wheel Racecourse, and Chun’an Jieshou Sports Center Road Bicycle Racecourse. The venues integrate various advantages and support capabilities of Telecom.
Jinhua Asian Games Branch Village is located in Wucheng District, Jinhua City, including the competition venue and warm-up venue. China Telecom has laid 144 core backbone optical cables as the backbone of the computer room and surrounding optical communication in the Asian Games Village. We not only did it for the Asian Games, but also took into account the development of the city and the construction of large future communities in the surrounding areas, and made forward-looking arrangements for supporting computer rooms,” said a staff member from China Telecom Jinhua Branch.
