What is Pushlok?

Pushlok technology is a fiber optic connectivity solution developed by Corning Inc., with its core advantages of miniaturization, easy installation, and high density. ‌
This technology uses innovative mechanical design to reduce the connector size to only half of traditional products, and the corresponding terminal component size can be reduced to a quarter, thereby accommodating more fiber optic connection points in limited space. ‌

Technical features and advantages

Quick installation: The Pushlok connector supports one handed operation and adopts a drop off installation design, providing tactile and auditory feedback during installation to ensure connection reliability. ‌
Its on-site installation version further simplifies the process, completing fiber stripping, cleaning, cutting, and connection without the need for fusion splicing. The installation time can be shortened to less than five minutes, and the efficiency is more than twice that of traditional methods. ‌
High density and space optimization: Miniaturization design enables network operators to deploy more fiber optic cables in towers, exterior walls, or underground environments, effectively addressing the surge in bandwidth demand in the 5G era. ‌
Deployment flexibility: This technology is suitable for various scenarios, including steel strands, vertical panels, or underground pipelines, and is equipped with augmented reality tools (such as Evolv AR Visualizer) to assist in planning, accelerate license approval, and reduce deployment errors. ‌

Application and impacts

Pushlok technology is mainly used for fiber deployment in telecommunications networks, especially for 5G backhaul, broadband expansion, and enterprise connectivity needs. By simplifying installation and reducing operation and maintenance costs, this solution helps operators shorten the network construction cycle and improve network reliability.
