Zankore will Build Indonesia’s First AI Factory

Zankore, a joint venture formed by IOH (Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison), Nvidia, and Nokia, has secured a $3.1 billion loan for the initial construction of its 1 GW AI factory and new cloud platform (neo-cloud platform).

Zankore, a joint venture established by Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH), NVIDIA, and Nokia, has secured a priority term loan of up to $3.1 billion to fund the construction of its first 100 megawatt (MW) AI factory and new cloud platform in Indonesia.

The regional and international financial institution consortium, consisting of Citigroup (Citi), ING Group, Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking (Natixis CIB), Qatar National Bank Group, and United Overseas Bank, serves as the lead arranger, underwriter, and bookrunner for this loan. It is one of the largest AI infrastructure financing transactions in Asia.

The proceeds from this transaction will be used to procure and deploy advanced NVIDIA GPU infrastructure, enabling Zankore to build an AI cloud platform that provides high-performance GPU clusters specifically designed for AI training and inference. This platform will offer customers dedicated production-grade AI computing resources that can be scaled and accessed on demand.

Zankore Director and Chairman Vikram Sinha stated in a declaration, “AI is creating a pivotal opportunity for Indonesia and Southeast Asia. The question is no longer whether the region will adopt AI, but whether we can build the infrastructure that allows us to meaningfully participate in shaping the future of AI. With NVIDIA’s support, Zankore is developing an advanced AI computing foundation to help turn this opportunity into reality.”

Sinha also serves as the President, Director, and Chief Executive Officer of IOH.

Indonesia becomes a regional AI hub

Zankore was founded over a month ago with the goal of building one of the largest infrastructure platforms in Asia.

IOH’s parent company, Qatar based Ooredoo Group, has invested $800 million to support the launch and initial development of the platform. Ooredoo Group holds 49% of the shares in this new joint venture.

The other two partners of the joint venture, Nokia and Nvidia, will provide AI network infrastructure, as well as GPU hardware and software, respectively.

Zankore’s goal is to achieve initial deployment of 200 megawatts (MW) of AI capacity in the first half of 2027, with plans to expand to 1 gigawatt (GW) upon completion.

The company plans to provide cloud services based on NVIDIA technology to AI native companies, enterprises, startups, developers, and institutions in Indonesia and throughout Southeast Asia.

According to Zankore, the company will adopt a revenue sharing and credit support model to match infrastructure deployment with customer needs. This will help expand the accessibility of large-scale accelerated computing and provide Zankore with a capital efficient way of growth.
